Day 161: (Advice To My Younger Self)

Dear Younger Self:

I realize you’re not in a good place in your life right now.  The violence your going through at home has turned your life into an up heave.  What’s even worse is your peers taunting you in school, because of your foreign name, the way you dress, and about how you don’t come from money.

I want to let you know how important it is you hang onto life tight.  Although it seems life isn’t worth much with all the suffering you go through, just know the experiences you go through are lessons striving to teach you something about life.  I know how frustrated you are.  It’s because you don’t understand why God would allow to endure violence at the hands of your parents, and the taunting and beatings you have to endure in school.

Somehow, those experiences will serve you well down the road.  The suffering your are going through will be the element making your writing great.  Believe me when I say, your life will get better.  Your going to graduate from high school, go onto college, graduate from college, and pursue your writing endeavors.  Your going to get acquainted with some wonderful people along the way who will like you and accept you for who you are, not for who you are related to.

These folks will have something in common with you.  They are writers of poetry, fiction and other genres of literature of interest to you.

In time there will be something known as the internet, containing websites purposely for writers.  On these websites you will be able to make some money from your writing, in addition to getting acquainted with writers from all over the world.

You will develop lasting friendships with these good people.  They will offer you feedback on your work, in addition to encouragement with regard to your pursuits in life.

There is a special site called Duolingo.com enabling you to touch up on your knowledge of the Spanish language so you will become professionally proficient.

Because your around your maternal aunt, grandmother and uncle most of the time, your knowledge of the Greek language will expand.  You will build on your vocabulary in the Greek language.

Technology has so many wonderful things to offer.  Cellular phones become known as cell phones and Smart Phones containing features for taking home movies and photographs in digital form.  There’s no more lugging around camera equipment.  Movies can be viewed via Smart Phones.  You will also be able to play electronic games on them, in addition to storing your music, and taking them wherever you go.

As for your abusive parents, they will be far away from you, living down in Florida.  Therefore, you will instead be around people who love you and care about you.

You’re writing stories and articles everyday, in addition to writing poetry from time to time.  Through daily practice, your creative writing skills will improve more and more everyday.  Your poetry will become more and more beautiful, as will your works of fiction.  Don’t take life too seriously.  Learn to have fun and relax every now and then.  Even with the violence you endure, just keep going to your special place to listen to your music, exercising, writing, singing and dancing.  All of these things are good for you.  Most importantly, don’t let your father or anyone discourage you from doing what your passionate about.
